Santiago, Chile
FR-EE’s proposal for a new tower in Santiago, Chile produces a new icon for the city’s skyline and symbolizes the country’s advanced environmental ambitions. The tower’s pyramidal shape references the surrounding volcanoes and mountain ridges, with the formal structure serving as an ideal vernacular in the earthquake prone zone.
The concept of the tower is to create an urban residential building that can programmatically account for an ever-changing economic market. Designed in section, the Chile Tower alters according to a market-driven split between commercial and residential demand, with the flexibility for overall ratio shift according to the owner’s needs.
