Oaxaca Cultural Center

Oaxaca, Mexico

The Oaxaca Cultural Center is a tribute to Oaxaca's culture in all its rich artistic expressions. Located at the entrance to the capital coming from Mexico City and Tehuacán, its architecture tries to establish a welcome icon and first place to visit. The project is designed to be a cultural center of great dynamism, in which culture is shown in constant movement: regional exhibitions, music, crafts, photography, cinema, Oaxacan gastronomy restaurant, community center and theater. A place where the past is celebrated and windows open to contemporary art. As inspiration one of the most important elements in the Zapotec culture, the frieze, served us for the design of landscaping and outdoor areas. The structural system that we propose in the barrel vault, can be found in several icons of the colonial architecture of the state.
