Juan Diego Chapel

Mexico City

The temple of Saint Juan Diego is conceived as an inverse structure to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the most visited religious center in the world after the Vatican. Juan Diego was a native Mexican to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared. fr·ee were invited to design a new temple dedicated to Saint Juan Diego, located on a prominent site just a short distance from the Basilica. The concept involves an inverted canopy that floats above the place where Holy Mass is offered to millions of people and a continuous circulation space that enables pilgrimage toward the Basilica.
